with three hundred hot dogs in tow, off we went this morning to celebrate marcus' graduation at the streetsville academy nursery school. off we went with hot dogs. sunscreen. three hundred paper plates. and a box of tiny organic kleenex.
sigh.where is that box. i think i should have it close by as i type this.
thrilled to see his school friends and his cousins, aunts, grandma and of course dad, marcus took the carnival grounds by storm. he jumped his highest on the bouncy castles. [i took photos] he ate more freezies, chips + juice than i care to admit [i kept looking away and pretending it wasn't happening.]. he danced on the stage to his fave justin bieber songs. [i took more photos] he played water balloons. he played balloon pop for prizes using his own allowance in his own little pocket. [i took even more photos] he performed with his classmates - was one of the only ones who kept up the songs + actions through the entire set - and of course, received his graduation gift from his teachers. [i put the camera down and reached for the organic kleenex]:
some of my fave highlights:
1. he stuck his hand into the scorpion cage [scaring the daylights out of the animal keeper + mother alike] and declared he wanted to 'meet him'. and he did.
2. he pet a python.
3. he LOVED the magician. and somehow held his pint sized attention span for the whole forty-five minute set in the twenty seven degree sun.
4. he danced all saved-by-the-bell-zach-and-kelly style with his pint sized girlfriend molly jane. my goodness they are cute.
5. the pta committee accidentily bought the hot dogs twice. so we had over six hundred hot dogs. and now the summer goers will have a weekly hot dog day from now until september courtesy of the pta. you're welcome kids.
6. marcus in a cap and gown. are you kidding me? like for real? it's too much for my mama heart people. it's just too much.
7. spending time with fam. i miss the mcaloon's and was so happy my i-refuse-to-call-them-ex-in-laws-because-it-doesn't-sound-nice came out today. marcus adores his cousins so it was wicked to spend the morning/afternoon with everyone.
8. we got to eat hot dogs. with ketchup. i promise to make it to five hot yoga classes and do three runs this week. my tummy thanked me but my waistline did not. whateva.
9. we won a raffle prize + brought home cars 2 - the dvd set. winning.
10. he fell asleep so fast + hard on the way home and snuggled right into my neck on the way up to our condo. those moments are numbered as he is outgrowing my neck and nook faster than i can even handle so i squeezed all thirty seven pounds of him and breathed in the sweat of his neck and kissed his salty little forehead real good before i gently tucked him into his tinier-by-the-day-because-he's-only-getting-bigger toddler bed.
...
you know when you have a tiny newb and people ooh and aww over it and they're all 'oh enjoy this part. it goes by so fast!'?
it's kind of the understatement of the year.
and while i am obv the proudest mama today especially, with my supersized heart filled with supersized love: seeing that tiny cap + gown was a big blue reminder that i'm going to blink and watch my son get his junior high certificate. high school diploma. uni degree. the whole nine. so for today? i will totally squeeze my pint sized co-pilot, tell him how proud we are, kiss his sweaty + salty forehead, let him nuzzle right into my warm neck, and not take a single balloon pop, hot dog or freezie for granted.
now please. pass the organic kleenex.
