04.27.2011

we started the day with a bottle of moet:
thanks beth!

and breakfast in bed...marcus even joined us for a virgin mimosa [aka water and oj] then we spent the morning choreographing a surprise reception intro dance, relaxing, and primping for the big event.

with 37 of our favourite people, an enthusiastic officiant, and a violinist on the beach in the mayan riviera, we exchanged vows, rings, and a family vow to our son marcus alongside a special necklace [toddler sized dog tags, engraved]. we kissed, we ate, we danced all night in a private terrace restaurant with glowsticks, great music and even better company.

we might have already started a family together, with our greatest accomplishment and junior groomsman [marcus] setting up camp with a high chair at the head table. we do already live together of course, and our day-to-day is already much like a married couple...

but to be able to call myself mrs. mcaloon - to share the name with my husband and son ... it is one of the best and most complete feelings i have ever felt.

favourite moments of our wedding day:
1. marcus ran down the aisle to james.
2. james cried through the entire ceremony.
3. a bird shit on james after the ceremony. amazing sign of good things to come.
4. my dress. i have no shame. i loved my dress.
5. walking down the aisle with my dad.
6. the speeches, esp the letters from my fam who weren't able to make the trip.
7. our reception intro aka surprise dance, esp when my dad whirled me around in circles during our dance break. he later told me he thought we performed a "10/10" performance.
8. great steak.
9. amazing people.
10. oh, i also gained a kick-ass husband.

we are incredibly lucky to have had 37 fam and friends join us for a truly memorable week in tulum. we are so thankful that each person was a part of such an important day in our lives:

for the past twenty months, few of the milestones we have celebrated as a family had to do with either James or i. it felt incredible and so rewarding to take time to relish in what we have accomplished as a couple, take pride in what we have to look forward to as a family, and with the people closest to us, truly celebrate being the new 'mr. and mrs. mcaloon'.
