| a standard week at little kickers: poised. listening. engaged. today at little kickers. does this look like organized soccer drills to you? full moon people. |
by the time 11:00 rolled around, i had climbed the downward spiral of the bad parenting ladder:
1. i politely asked marcus if he wanted to participate today. he said yes. so i said, excellent, then please turn on your ears [which he does. literally.] and start listening to coach phil.
2. i less-than-perfectly-politely told marcus that if he did not turn on his ears, we would not be participating.
3. i told marcus that if he didn't start listening to coach phil, we were leaving.
4. i told marcus we were leaving.
5. i told marcus that if he didn't start listening, he would not be getting his prized single timbit after soccer.
6. i thought about that caesar again. damn you deb.
7. saved by the bell, the practice was over.
seriously tho. these kids were on toddler crack today. i swear it. us parents were laughing our butts off by the time it was over, literally as delirious as our kids by that point, high fiving each other's highest point in parenting for bribing, threatening, and then giving in and laughing at our kids' poor behaviour.
they are afterall, pretty fantastic kids & kickers on a weekly basis, so we can count this one week as a loss. aka have our timbit & eat it too.
