high five friday: the 'oh what now she's blogging again?' edition

yesterday at four pm it started to snow. and the gta went up in arms warning of feet [not inches. feet] of snow and school closures and possibly a rescheduled demo if the academy announced their first.ever.actual. snow day since marcus started there at eleven months old.

and it snowed.
and it snowed.
and it is still.
snowing.
which is actually great because i have had one heck of a week [ish] and would love to [over] share all about our recent up-to current and by current did i mention we are actually.seriously.literally snowed into our sweet suburban low-rise? - adventures. side note on the snow in: apparently even when you pay maintenance fees, some snow storms mean not even the maintenance people show up to shovel. our only ramp out of underground parking has us all snowed in ova here. and SOME not-so-single-at-all-single-mom MAY OR MAY NOT have tried to make a getaway in the rogue only to get stuck on one heck of an incline on said ramp, risking the rogue to the jaws of the automatic garage door that came this.close. to chomping down on the poor snowed in rogue. MAY OR MAY NOT.

so. how was your week? are you snuggled in? snowed in? may you be safe and sound this february friday eve as you read this 'oh so what now she's blogging again?' edition of high five friday:

1. marcus has moved up from little kickers football club, to mighty kickers football club. what does this mean you ask? well most importantly, he got a new uniform that i'm going to try so.hard. to keep white. so.hard. and also? harder drills. coach larry who [really] resembles cookie monster and we are loving it. liam is back [yeah!]. haley is not [noooo!]. and it looks like these kids might actually learn how to play.a.game. of soccer this season. who knew people.
2. my man came to town. and you're all like [AGAIN?]. yes. again. all kinds of again. my nose is scrunched up with cute right now. [i know. i know. barf.]
3. marcus learned to bowl. kind of. he technically DID bowl. he not so technically didn't really LOVE it. taking turns was a challenge. feeling as though he might not be the strongest bowler on our team was a tough ego breaker for him. but oh man did he ever pull off the shoes. and he was so funny and wholeheartedly hopeful to one.of.these.times. knock down more than one pin as the pint sized bowling ball rolled down the lane at about 0.000001 miles per hour. and on one turn? he totally knocked down two. i think it was the highlight for him.
4. mark + i went to montreal and double fisted a trade show weekend with our very own valentine's day. the trade show was great but hardly the highlight. with even more great company than just each other in the form of his business parnter, we hit up the local hotspot le banquise: read: an actual. poutine. restaurant. don't even doubt that goodness was sure not organic. but it was SO montreal. and SO delicious.
5. mark + i spent an extra non-work day in old montreal and had a wonderful romantic adventure en francais. which, i am happy to report, i can apparently still speak fairly fluently - at least according to the tres gentil taxi drivers. oui oui. merci. also ladies, it is rare [i think] to find a man who will walk five feet in front of you just to break the cold winter wind in hopes of keeping you extra warm. or at least not as extra cold.
6. we got a jack lalanne power juicer! and oh baby, are we a juicin'. for one. i was so inspired by lisa to start juicing + am so thrilled with the results [well, two days in at least]. what do we juice? marcus loves to go into the fridge and literally bring me every variety of vegetable and fruit he can find. today's concoction included: organic carrots, organic spinach and kale, an organic apple, 1/4 of a non-organic [gasp] pineapple, 1/4 of a lemon, and a half of a cucumber. marcus stands - eyes wide - on a chair next to the juicer while i load the chute. his eyes grow wider with each stream of juice that streams out and he starts to squeal at a high pitch decibal towards the top of his pint sized mason jar. the downside? the kid is a juice hog. i'm going to have to make us separate jars.
7. i had a sweet brown rice vegetarian sushi date with one of my soeurs and her sweet baby audrey. audrey stole the show in her concert tee and a bow on her brow that was literally bigger than a modern day sock bun. she kept shooting laura the side eye and i swear post-sushi she was babbling baby talk that sounded an awful lot like 'seriously aunty karen take this bow off my head. do it. do it now.' the sushi was perfect as was the girl time.
8. it's february. when did that happen?
9. i got a bag of kettle chips at costco that will likely.actually. last me an entire month. maybe longer. seriously. that's a win except it actually doesn't fit into my cupboards because of it's massive size. plus, it was the same prize as the standard size bag at loblaws. which makes me feel like loblaws was sure not offering me the upmost value those very few [or many] times i bought those chips. but regardless. secret's out.
10. basically everyone in the gta got a surprise long weekend [slash office day!] thanks to snowmageddon 2013. we are loving the snow and we will see if that not-so-single-at-all-single-mom can make it out of underground parking and up the ramp in the morning to get her mighty kicker to training.

this week was so full. and i am a true. huge believer that the one who invests in the most in 'filling up' then has the most to give. my heart feels so full. thanks to le banquise + costco combined, my tummy is full. my spirit is full. and i sure feel in the best place to give.

happy friday loves.
snuggle up and let it snow.
