ho ho ho

don't be so rude. we're talking holidays people.

the past couple of weeks have been filled with this kind of jolly goodness:

marcus and i hit up the raptors vs mavericks game. and by hit up, i mean we shared in the platinum club goodness and shared platinum style hot dogs and popcorn and we hunted that silly raptor mascot the whole game through. i outfitted him in a pint sized official jersey. he politely asked for an obnoxious foam finger. i reluctantly obliged and a small fortune later we were seated right behind calderon and we giggled at the idea of throwing popcorn at him just because we could. marcus loved it. i wore a sly grin thinking of how i had won these ridiculous seats off of a mere $15 in raffle tix at that awesome sauce EPIC halloween party for sick kids. [evil mom laugh]

the christmas concert. i mean. people. i have joked and blogged about his musical prowess. his on stage skills. his swag. but i give you, in three equally enthralling parts. mr. marcus james mcaloon:

if there is any jolly good part of you that is swooning. laughing. ovaries quivering. loving every bit of him on that pint sized holiday stage? i'm with you. i'm all the way although absolutely partial but that's hardly the point with you. and considering last year he literally. sat on the stage and cried in his perfect red cardigan with his arms outreached until i physically removed him from his nightmare of a christmas concert?

we were all kinds of proud. the difference a year makes. he was confident. he was loud. he was loving it. he was in red skinny pants and a grey chunky knit man sweater. what more could santa himself ask for?

but that's not all.

marcus also hosted his first ugly christmas sweater party. i know what you're thinking. ALL OF THIS INFORMATION IN ONE SINGLE BLOG POST?!

i know. i know. it's a lot of holly jolly in one bloggy. on with it.

there was a hot chocolate buffet. with marshmallows. crushed candy cane for the mug rims. chocolate sprinkles. cinnamon sticks to stir with. and more.

there was an entire table of sugar aka a gingerbread cookie decorating factory. marcus, in true swag style, claimed to be decorating his gingerbread man but in fact, was just piling a small mountain of his favourite candy on top of a cookie like a toddler episode of candy hoarders. he then sat there eating sweets with a sly smile on his chocolate covered face.

there were tiny friends. in tiny ugy sweaters and dresses. even an ugly christmas dress that i understand has lasted generations in the fam only to be passed down to the perfect molly jane and her matching hair bows.

there was a cardboard 3D tree for the kids to decorate. but funny enough. although i had planned a few christmas activities, before i knew it they were piled into marcus' superhero lair picking out superhero costumes then running up and down the pint sized condo hallway attacking poor molly jane in her ugly christmas dress and telling her they were shooting webs at her when really they were just kind of spitting on her each time they made that 'pssh' noise as they shot their wrists out with a vengence. i'm only convinced they each had a]fun and b]a sugar high to write home about as they each started to cry and protest when it was time to dash. it was loud. it was ugly. it was cute. it was good.

and now? somehow the first twenty four days of december have flown by. and with a mild temp of 1 measly degree, no snow on the ground and a trip to [the arctic aka] edmonton in six days? we find ourselves on christmas eve. ready for the kid's christmas eve service at church at 4. ready for reindeer. ready for santa. ready for giving and getting [presents.] ready for family and friends and the love and warmth that the holidays bring. ready for christmas brunch with me and christmas dinner with dad.

ready for christmas.

with all the amazing -ness of the past twenty four days, we hope you are as ready as we are for a restful + simultaneously eventful christmas.

merry christmas eve all. from our blog to your browser, and our fam to yours.
love karen + m
