thursday.

this morning was my 'sleep in'.

my alarm went off at seven sharp. after a few emails + confirming a handful of orders - i got into an imaginary telephone booth and became a decked out demo girl, setting up my sweet table of wares + free protein bars at a sobey's grand re-opening celebrating their new re-vamped look and wellness section. four hours, one hundred and eight protein bars, tony the tiger, a balloon-making clown and an over-aggressive demo-girl-next-door later, i was hauling you know what to pack up my table as i count down the hours in the last day and a half in our shipping month.

i had missed ten calls and had eleven new voicemails. figure that out.

three meetings later i am watching the clock as i hope to get a great deal processed for one of my accounts - driving towards home and checking in on the phone en route [hands free] with marv. who i can only describe as the secret weapon to success in sport + nutritional supplement sales. she is just as busy as i am and we will connect before end of day to confirm the specials for that deal.
so i am almost home and did i mention between those meetings and my quick check-in with marv, four more customer calls?

i check the clock and realize there's just no way i can make my hot yoga with weights class today. i can forfeit the 4 pm class and get to the 5:30.

at 5:12 i check the clock between stores, still sending in orders and still waiting for marv's day to settle long enough to talk through that deal, and realize i am forfeiting hot yoga at all today. sit-ups tonight?

marv calls at 5:30 on the dot and it takes us just about an hour and four phone calls to finalize the deal.

i am standing in line at another sobey's at 6:46, realizing i am also forfeiting dinner because marcus is coming home at seven and i want to build him a fort to surprise him when he gets home.
to save time, i pop up his little tent in the living room, and set up his stuffed buddies inside, with two small bowls: one with organic popcorn and one with green grapes, and a handful of his fave books.
sure enough. he literally squeals with delight as he walks in to discover the buddies waiting for him + finds it absolutely hilarious that the stuffed monkey has his little hand in the popcorn. point mom.

"are you doing laundry tonight? because i didn't wash his uniform for tomorrow."

ok.

"oh and here is a bag of his clothes covered in pee from an accident earlier today."

ok.

and he hasn't had a bath since tuesday night. smell that on for size.

this is where i borderline started to feel my bottom lip quiver [not because of the baby daddy. only because of the long + hungry day] but instead smiled, said 'cool, got it' and charged into that tiny tent to join the buddies for organic popcorn and a good read.

somehow after bathtime, reading time, prayers, tucking in, laundry, loading the dishwasher which only reminded me of how hungry i am, and sinking into the couch to a hundred new emails, i am still totally. absolutely. settled and blessed. i am so lucky to work in an industry that is thriving and filled with non-stop energy. i am blessed to look forward to my son coming home after some great [albiet stinky] time with his dad. i am hopeful that missing yoga with weights today won't go straight to my already-generous-but-it's-all-good-booty. i am excited for my phone date with my long-distance-love any minute.

i kind of can't wait to get up and do it all again tomorrow.

here's to the last shipping day of one of the busiest months of our industry's year. here's to awesome friends who understand why i've been MIA all month. [i mean that one hundred percent. i promise i am alive and can't wait for a starbucks date or bottle of red real soon.] here's to tony the tiger and long days without dinner. here's to an extra load of laundry and less-than-secretly-loving that i'm the one doing it :)

here's to your week too. i hope you're looking forward to waking up tomorrow and squealing 'TGIF' at seven am. as much as i am!
