oh. okay. see you in an hour?

this morning marcus suited up in his gym shorts and a tee, ready for his first gym class. when one of his fave classmates invited us to join them for sunday am. gymnastics at a wicked complex here in the saugs, we jumped. pun intended.

toddler gymnastics makes for a sweet springboard to any.sport.this kid might want to play later on. balance. coordination. strength. and like any other three year old, just learning how each muscle works. all VIP foundational elements that he will take to the soccer field.swimming pool. hockey rink. kitchen sink.

what i wasn't ready for? i had no idea that this was a 'drop your kid off and pick them up' activity. my heart basically jumped up my throat for an early am. nervous-nearly-vom. but marcus was all 'molly and i got this. see you mom.' right. no big deal. deep breath.

so we took our seats upstairs and squinted to spot our little athletes from the second floor viewing deck. it is pretty amazing. the viewing deck overlooks this huge complex where pre-pro gymnasts train, which also made our pint-sized pommel-horsing kids look like tiny specs on the mats.

this week marcus' group covered a floor warm-up, the bars [!], balance beam, and our personal fave: the trampoline. okay. see if you can spot my tiny tramper towards the left mid with his little red shorts on:

do you see him with his little arms reached out straight on the trampoline? i die :)
marcus + molly

and the end result? as his coach let him out of the gym, he came running and literally pounced on me, and quietly burrowed + whispered into my neck: "mama? did you think i did great?".

my whole heart filled with love as my whole face filled with a smile and i lit up sharing my favourite highlights from the mats. he soaked in every detail and nodded in absolute agreement as if to say 'yeah. i knew i rocked it but i kind of needed you to say it mama.' just like how he pounced on me and burrowed into my neck after his first real extra-curricular 'drop off' and i thought: 'yeah. i knew you missed me a bit. but i kind of needed you to show it marcus.'

so i happily gave the kid as much reassurance after class as he gave me + already can't wait to see him on the pint-sized pommel horse next weekend.

happy sunday ;)
