thank you g.o.d. for marcus sleeping until the solid 7 am mark this morning.
i of course woke up at 6:40 in mere anticipation of his morning yelp 'mommy! i awake! and i gotta pee!'
but to no avail.
so instead i stayed under the covers, gave myself a pat on the tired back for my freshly assembled ikea bed frame surviving a single night [phewf.] and enjoyed the morning stillness in our home. can i take a minute to mention that one of my customers asked over the weekend if i had yet christened my new condo? and i stood there and just started laughing because i didn't dare respond and thank.you.god. that i didn't because he started laughing too and said 'WITH WINE?!'. funny times.
back to sunday morning: he woke up and asked immediately for applesauce pancakes. have you ever done that? i mix organic apple cinnamon sauce into the [out of the box i suck but you can still love me] organic pancakes and it gives them a nice spin on the traditional. so we got down to business and made that happen.
then i looked outside and noticed it looked chilly - yea - but also was beautiful and sunny. so we bundled up and went on a bike ride over to starbucks across the street. that is a great little ride for those two-year-and-six-month-old-little-but-still-strong-legs. so away we rode:
we rode to starbucks and marcus parked his chopper inside near the entrance and marched over and ordered himself a blueberry muffin. in this tiny little voice and the barista was leaned over the counter trying to take him seriously and trying even harder not to keel over laughing.
then when he had nibbled away at only the muffin top and not the bottom goodness, off we went again for more biking:
we totally lucked out and spotted two forklifts, one mini crane, and three diggers at the construction site [our hood is not even built yet. the buildings next to us are still in the making which makes for awesome evening walks and morning bike ride entertainment]. clearly, once we stopped at the fence, marcus asked to shove his tiny mouth full of more muffin goodness:
which easily ended up being my favourite photo of our weekend.
i heard we were getting the most epic snow storm of the season on friday, but somehow we ended up with beautiful sunshine and clear roads today instead. we'll take it. gladly.
count it ;)
-kare
